Lord Howe Island – A Holiday Destination – Now Open

| October 2, 2020

Great news for those looking to get away for a bit of a break. QantasLink will operate daily return services from Saturday 3rd of October between Sydney and Lord Howe Island. This is a result of travel restrictions easing.

Lord Howe Island is a place that should be experienced at least once in a lifetime. Just 700 km from Sydney, but there is no mobile reception and the wifi is patchy. Anyone needing to make a local phone call can use the free public phone in town. The speed limit is a leisurely 25km per hour. Tourist numbers are capped at 400, so it feels exclusive without being elitist. Lord Howe Island is a beautiful, amazing place with gentle beaches and fish you can feed. There are honesty boxes dotted along the beach and people stop to say hello and chat. Enjoy walks with wild nesting birds or challenging hikes with an untouched, unique rainforest on top of a mountain of rock from an extinct volcano.

It is unique in so many ways. It’s a special place, a wonderful serene island to escape from the pace, crowds and digital connection of modern living.

We suggest if you want to really indulge, that you stay at the beautiful Capella Lodge.
