Orion Expedition Cruises has announced it will be extending its Australian offering by adding 15 10-night Kimberley voyages between April and September 2013. The cruise will depart from Darwin and call at King George River and Falls, Vansittart Bay, Hunter River (for Mitchell Falls), Montgomery Reef and Raft Point, Talbot Bay/Horizontal Waterfalls, Crocodile Creek, Nares Point and finish at Broome. The cruise will also be particularly special as portions of the trip are taken by land, sea and air respectively.
The cruise will include shore excursions where passengers can see examples of Wandijina indigenous rock art and have a chance to explore the biggest waterfalls in the area. Guests will also be given the opportunity to see the reefs and rivers from one of Orion’s zodiac expedition craft where they will also be given the opportunity to spot crocodiles, turtles and sharks.
For air, the line is offering optional tours of the area by helicopter to trace the Hunter River at low altitude – while a two hour Bungle Bungle Ranges flight is included in the price of the cruise.
